Teacher Who Disrupted Machogu’s Speech Earns TSC Employment
At the funeral of Nyamaiya Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Elijah Osiemo, a teacher rushed to the podium where Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu was addressing guests and begged for a Teachers Service Commission (TSC) appointment.
As a gesture of condolence, CS Machogu was in the process of awarding a TSC letter to a member of the bereaved family. The education secretary also announced that locals could submit their requests to him if they were in need.
This must have prompted the man, who was among the hundreds of mourners at the funeral, to hurry in and jostle the security guards in order to obtain access to Machogu.
The man’s audacious action astounded the neighborhood residents, who eventually brought him to the Education Cabinet Secretary’s attention.
According to reports, the CS subsequently provided the unidentified man with letters, indicating that his job search may have come to an end.
Machogu stated that the young man was deserving of the position because he stood up for himself.
“Has the young man not already contended for himself?”Isn’t that a great battle?” The CS posed the query to the energized audience.
“Hasn’t the young man fought for himself?Isn’t that a good fight?” The CS threw the question to a charged crowd.
Employment of the teacher coincided with the Commission’s promotion of 14,000 teachers, which also included the recruitment of principals’ deputies.
As of March 2023, the TSC employed a total of 346,760 teachers, with plans in motion to hire an additional 110,000.
