Studying Abroad: Uniabroad-IDP IELTS Hosts Stakeholder Forum To Discuss Student Access To Accurate Information.
Uniabroad-IDP IELTS has played an invaluable role in assisting Kenyan students planning to study abroad by providing them with as much information and options as possible.
Nonetheless, the contribution of this leading student placement organization to the education sector has gone undetected at times, making the entire process appear opaque.
According to industry experts, the biggest contributor to this ambiguity has been a lack of information among all of the players involved in the country’s education interconnection chain.
Thus, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, Uniabroad-IDP IELTS hosted representatives from private and public high schools in Kenya at a forum to highlight its partnership and role in ensuring students who want to study abroad have an easy time doing so.
The event, held at the Radisson Blu hotel in Upper Hill, Nairobi, Kenya, aimed to bring together like-minded individuals to discuss the future of the country’s education sector, as well as how players in the field could collaborate across public and private sectors.
As a result, representatives from various educational segments were present.
Mr Fred Okoth, Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Officer in the Corporate Communication and Customer Experience Department of Higher Education Loans Board (HELB); Eng Leonard Mwanja, Test Developer and Subject Officer at Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC); Antony Mureithi Mugo, Liaison and Marketing Associate/Officer for Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA); and the Ministry of Education Assistant Director of Quality Assura As invited guests, approximately 50 career teachers from both public and private high schools attended.
Some of the issues raised during the discussions included access to the right information when it came to seeking education abroad, such as which university would be best for specific interests and which courses were best provided abroad, among others.
But what seemed to boggle many people’s minds was financing, with some participants asking about the cost of studying abroad and the available funding options.
The event served as a forum for these and other topics to be discussed. Common misconceptions and myths that arise when discussing studying abroad were debunked.
“From what Uniabroad-IDP IELTS has done over the years, students have had a chance to study and realize their potential in some of the best and highly acclaimed institutions of higher learning abroad,” stated Stella Kinyanjui, Line Manager, Uniabroad-IDP IELTS.
There were also testimonials from past and current beneficiaries, who generally praised the organization for its assistance in facilitating access to higher education, thereby contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4, which is concerned with ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all.
