School heads Asked To Enrol Students Into Elimu Scholarship Programme. All principals and head teachers have been urged to enroll students from low-income families in the Elimu Scholarship program.Prof. George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, stated that it is heartbreaking to see bright but needy students at home due to a lack of school fees, despite the fact that the government has a scholarship to fund their education.Prof. Magoha stated that the scholarship fund would assist intelligent students with limited financial resources in pursuing and successfully completing their secondary education.“There is hope to those children from needy background to follow their dream and become what they want in life because the government will fund their education through Elimu scholarship. Let us not deny them that chance,” he said. The CS pleaded with the few principals who were sending children home due to a lack of school fees to stop.Prof. Magoha, speaking at Kapsabet Boys High School after monitoring form one reporting, warned students who were still waiting to transfer to other schools that it would not happen. He advised the institution to register 100% of its students, urging various stakeholders from other regions to ensure that students from their areas who have not reported to school do so.“Some areas where I have been, we are not even approaching 75 per cent. The enrolment is still low that’s why I insist students must report to school that you are supposed to report. There is no way out,” he stated.Prof. Magoha met with Fred Ekiru Amurio, a student from Turkana County who was overjoyed after being admitted to the school of his choice, during his visit.“This child represents the face of Kenya and if there is something I would like to be remembered for, it is ensuring poor children get justice just like any other children across the country,” he said. The Elimu scholarship is a World Bank and Kenyan government initiative to improve secondary education through the Ministry of Education. The scholarship covers school fees, transportation, learning materials, and four years of secondary education.School heads Asked To Enrol Students Into Elimu Scholarship Programme
