Police Urge Parents To Ensure School Children Report Back, Assures Them Safety.
The National Police Service has assured students’ safety as they return to school.
“With the peace currently enjoyed across the country, we urge parents and guardians to ensure that school children report back as directed by the ministry of education.”
NPS said in a statement on Thursday that it has left nothing to chance and that its traffic officers have increased patrols and surveillance on the roads.
“As schools enter the re-opening day today after the midterm break, we wish to assure the public of their safety and that of their children as they travel on public roads across the country.”
“We are confident that the few days students have been at home have been enriching to them and lessons learned on civic duty and responsibility, considering the peaceful conduct by the public in the just concluded General Election.”
Education CS George Magoha directed last week that schools resume on August 18, following a break for the August 9 general election.
Magoha clarified in a statement that students will no longer be required to report to school on Monday, as previously announced.
“I hereby convey the government’s decision on the suspension of the re-opening of all basic education institutions with effect from Monday, August 15, 2022, until Thursday, August 18, 2022,” the statement read.
