Police Hunt for KCPE Candidate Who Chopped Off Classmate’s Finger Over Biscuit
On Thursday, Rongo, Migori County police instituted a manhunt for a Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate suspected of cutting the hand of a classmate over a biscuit.
An altercation ensued between the two students of Kasodo Primary School, culminating in one student brandishing a knife and cutting the finger of his fellow student before retreating into concealment.
The two students were engaged in a dispute regarding the ownership of a biscuit, which culminated in the tragic incident.
While some have asserted that the candidate chopped off the student’s hand entirely, others have claimed that he cut only a finger.

The conflict ensued several hours after both individuals finished their KCPE examinations.
The incident elicited shock among teachers and fellow students. Instances of violent crimes committed against minors have increased across the nation.
The student was taken to the hospital immediately for treatment.
The perpetrator had fled into hiding when police officers arrived at the site, prompting law enforcement to initiate a manhunt.
Since then, police officers have initiated investigations and inquiries in an effort to apprehend the suspect.
On Wednesday, an estimated 2.6 million students in 33,000 centers completed the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and KCPE examinations.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu stated on Wednesday that the grading of the exams has commenced, and the results will be publicly released before the Christmas season.

Dr. Belio Kipsang, principal secretary of Basic Education, added that the three-day exam period was fruitful and that the number of pregnancies among adolescents this year was minimal.
Rongo University student kills comrade during drunken argument
The Migori police are conducting an investigation into the fatal stabbing of a third-year Rongo University student, purportedly by a fellow student during an evening of drinking.
According to vice-chancellor of the university Professor Samuel Gudu, initial inquiries indicate that the two individuals had engaged in a social gathering for a beverage prior to an unidentified dispute that escalated into physical altercations.
“We are profoundly disturbed by the occurrence that transpired on Wednesday evening. We are informed that they engaged in an altercation while intoxicated. “After the death was reported to all students on Tuesday, Prof. Gudu told the Nation that the suspect drew a knife and stabbed a classmate,”
The suspect is in police custody and reportedly cooperating with investigations, according to credible sources.

The student passed away while receiving treatment at Tabaka Mission Hospital in Kisii County, according to a statement from the institution.
The deceased was a third-year student at the School of Information, Communication, and Media Studies pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Communication and Journalism.
The deceased’s remains were transported to the mortuary of Tabaka Mission Hospital.
“From the student’s fraternity, I wish to extend our profoundest condolences and sympathy to his family and close friends. May the Lord provide them with the fortitude to surmount the obstacle. “May his soul eternally rest in peace,” the correspondence to the students read.
