Exam Supervisor Arrested for Online Disclosure of Kiswahili Paper Contents
An exam supervisor was arrested by the Kwale County Police in connection with a probable instance of examination malpractice.
On the second day of the national examinations, a Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) supervisor allegedly discovered an illegally distributed KCPE 2023 Kiswahili Lugha paper on the Internet, according to a police report.
Later investigations linked the serial number on the document to Albadru Integrated School, a private institution situated at the Munje Primary Examinations Centre in Kingwede, Msambweni.
“It was determined that the Kiswahili Lugha paper that was circulating on social media was, in fact, the surplus paper that had been assigned for Albadru Integrated School.”

As a result, Bakari Enzi, the on-duty supervisor, was arrested for unlawfully disclosing the contents of the examination papers.
According to police, investigations have unveiled that KNEC regulations mandate the safekeeping of the spare paper by the supervisor following exam distribution.
The Msambweni Police Chief, Francis Gachoki, says that although the supervisor admitted to possessing the spare paper, he was apprehended on suspicion that he was responsible for its online distribution.
He stated that initial assumptions suggested that the paper might have belonged to a student who had completed exams at Msambweni Hospital. However, upon further investigation, it was verified that the paper in question was, in fact, the spare paper kept by the supervisor.

It was suspected that the supervisor had taken a photograph of the paper and shared it online, possibly with the intention of tarnishing Albadru School’s reputation.
He clarified that the school’s academic performance would remain unaffected while further investigation into the supervisor was conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
“This was one person’s mistake and it looks like it was a strategy,” Mr. Gachoki commented.
