Pictures of Ageless Rachel Ruto in Uniform at Butere Girls High School Resurface
Resurfaced images show First Lady Rachel Ruto looking younger while wearing a school uniform.
She was pictured in 2017 wearing socks and a maroon and white outfit.
As she mixed with excited schoolgirls, planted a tree at the institution, and laid the cornerstone for a new building, Rachel could easily have been mistaken for one of the students due to her short hair.
Rachel visited Butere Girls High School with other alumni to mentor the students.

For Only the Best is the institution’s motto, but Rachel’s first picture was taken with them in 2014.
She visited Siaya to introduce a table banking program when she ran into former classmates.
They enjoyed taking pictures with the second lady at the time.
A needy girl was rescued by Rachel and the school’s alumni two years later.
She gave Melvian Akumu a check for her tuition and some donated books and personal items.
In 2016, the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation gave Rachel textbooks as part of her involvement with Butere Girls.

In 2016, Rachel made two trips to the school, the first for a Sunday service. During her second visit, Ruto joined her to introduce a mentorship program.
In 2016, Rachel shared pictures of herself speaking at a fundraiser dinner to support a school program.
This was her second-to-last post at the institution.
Butere girls were renowned for their involvement in drama, dance, extracurricular activities, and academic endeavors.
The school has several well-known alumni, including Lady Justice Joyce Aluoch, the first female judge on Kenya’s High Court, and Lady Justice Effie Owuor, the first Kenyan judge to sit as a judge at The Hague.
The school was attended by the late flamboyant ambassador Orie Rogo Manduli and the founder of Makini Schools, Mary Okello, Kenya’s first female bank manager.
Prof. Julia Ojiambo, the first female MP from Western Kenya, also attended Butere Girls.
