Oyuu Accuses TSC of Instituting Backdoor Delocalization of Teachers
Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut), has raised concerns over what he perceives as the Teachers Service Commission’s (TSC) covert implementation of teacher delocalization.
KNUT Secretary General Collins Oyuu criticized the TSC for instituting backdoor delocalization of teachers.
He stated that teachers were being relocated under the guise of being promoted to principals or deputy principals. He stated that the teachers’ union rejects all forms of delocalization.

“We are saying we will not accept delocalization through the back door. It has to stop, and teachers must, as much as it is possible, be close to their families,” said the Knut secretary general.
Oyuu pointed out that the painful memories of broken families and instances where teachers’ marital rights were reduced to mere favors in the past still lingered.
He stated that the TSC should keep teachers who are eligible for promotion at their current posts until vacancies become available in the vicinity.

In addition, Oyuu applauded the reduction of teaching subjects recommended in the report of the presidential working group on education reforms.
According to him, implementing the recommendations would significantly relieve teachers who currently face an unbearable workload, enabling instructors to deliver quality education.
“A teacher who is overloaded cannot offer quality education any where,” he said.
