NSSF Issues Directive On Ksh2,160 Monthly Contributions
The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has issued an order to all employees and employers to comply with the new monthly contribution regulations.
The authority has instructed all concerned Kenyans to familiarize themselves with the new rules, which dictate that the total contribution from both the employee and employer must be Ksh 2,160 per month.
“The total contributions for both Employee and Employer is Kshs 2,160/= monthly,” NSSF announced.
This directive from NSSF comes after a wave of public objections over the increase in charges from Ksh 200 to Ksh 2,160 per month.
In the statement, NSSF emphasized the importance of following the Court of Appeal ruling on the NSSF Act No. 45 of 2013 and urged all employers to comply with the law immediately.
Those employers who are already following the act should continue doing so, while those who are not should start complying as soon as possible.
Moreover, NSSF Board of Trustees Chairman, Anthony Munyiri, explained that the directive means employers are obligated to submit their employees’ monthly contributions to the Fund by the 9th day of every month.
According to the new directive, those in Tier 1, consisting of employees earning between Ksh3,000 and Ksh6,000 a month, will contribute Ksh360 monthly, while those in Tier 2, consisting of employees earning between Ksh6,000 and Ksh18,000, will contribute Ksh720 every month.
