CS Machogu Cuts CBC Practical Costs, Issues Teachers New Guidelines
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has implemented guidelines to control the actions of teachers and reduce the cost of practical lessons under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
The guidelines, issued by the State Department for Basic Education, outline expenses that teachers and parents are responsible for and instruct that all learning should take place in the classroom, rather than on far-away trips.
“Learning will be conducted in the classroom except where learning involves activities that require learners to visit local sites such as construction sites, businesses, industries and the local community to acquire the skills,” the statement read.
School administrators have been directed to use affordable resources, and parents are expected to provide resources for tools and drawings.
Schools and caregivers will make sure that students have access to all necessary materials during their energy resources lessons.
Additionally, Machogu specified the role of the laboratory, which is required for all junior secondary schools, and explained its functions in detail.
“This necessitates creativity to improvise the resources or scan the environment to get them. Content can be implemented without incurring any cost,” read the comment on the material stand section.
Additionally, Machogu has outlined the functions of the laboratory, which is mandatory for all junior secondary schools, and emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of students during science lessons.
To prevent incidences of disobedience, the Ministry of Education put out mentorship programs.
In addition to launching mentorship programs, the government sponsored initiatives to aid parents in making crucial decisions regarding student meals.
