Maasai Mara University Student Found Murdered in Bush
The police in Narok County are currently investigating the murder of a female student from Maasai Mara University. The body of Adah Nyambura Ameru, aged 20, was discovered lying in a bush near the university, a few meters away.
Her boyfriend, Brian Kimutai, 23, reported her missing on Sunday. The police commander, John Kizito, has stated that the deceased went missing on Saturday night while at a nightclub.
After receiving the report, members of the public discovered the body in the Macedonia area and informed the police. The body was half-naked with minor bruises on the face.
It is suspected that the deceased was raped before being murdered. According to a viral video on social media, the student was seen dancing happily in a nightclub a few hours before she went missing.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Narok County Referral Hospital morgue for preservation, awaiting a postmortem. Unfortunately, similar incidents of university students being killed in unclear circumstances have been on the rise in the country.
Last month, June Jerop, a 36-year-old Kenyatta University student, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend in unclear circumstances. In the same month, the body of Ann Wangari, a 22-year-old Bomet University student, was found in River Nyanogres a week after she went missing.
Similarly, in January, the body of Phyllis Jepleting, a first-year student at Karatina University, was found inside her boyfriend’s house in Nakuru.
The police commander, Kizito, has urged university students to focus on their studies and contribute to developing the nation. He emphasized that the nation is eagerly waiting for their services and requested that students concentrate on research and anything that will boost their academics while in school.
