A Kisii University student was arrested on Monday while posing as a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations candidate.
The culprit was arrested after masquerading as a KCSE student at Kiamabundu Mixed Secondary school in Nyaribari Chache, police say.
Following his arrest at the Kiamabundu Mixed Secondary School in Nyaribari Chache, the 20-year-old suspect will be charged with impersonation, according to police.
The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination papers were distributed beginning at 6 a.m., following the container’s opening in Gucha, Kisii County.
Gucha Deputy County Commissioner Emanuel Ngala, who presided over the opening, reminded the school heads who had come to select English and Chemistry exam papers for their respective examination centres to follow exam regulations.
He reminded them to turn off their phones in exam rooms and to keep their exam center gates open during exam hours.
Gucha has 1258 candidates sitting for the 2021 KCSE exams, with boys accounting for 51% (648 boys) of the gender variance.
Security has been beefed up in neighbouring Nyamira County as the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) begins across the country.

While opening the Kenya National Examination (KNEC) container where the exam papers are stored, Nyamira South Sub County Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Julius Otieno, confirmed that they have sufficient security to ensure that the examination is conducted without any hitches or insecurity incidents throughout the examination period.
Mr. Otieno warned Centre managers that tampering with the examination process could have serious consequences and urged them to keep the examination papers in one of the examination classrooms, where security officers can easily see them, rather than in offices or staffrooms.
