The rumor that a KCSE examiner at Alliance Girls High School was found stealing clothing from the exam marking center is false.
According to Kikuyu OCPD Catherine Ringera, they attended the school on Thursday after receiving reports of the suspected theft, only to discover that the incident had been misreported based on leaked CCTV footage of the incident.
The OCPD told Citizen Digital that the examiner depicted in the video had accidentally removed her colleague’s garment from the clothesline while retrieving her own.
The owner of the apparel that was wrongly taken subsequently reported the incident to the school administration, at which point CCTV footage was acquired to determine who had in fact taken the missing clothing.
The examiner seen on CCTV was then asked to present the garments she picked from the clothesline, at which point it was proven that she had really selected her colleague’s outfit.
She returned the garments, and the situation was instantly resolved.
The event occurred on January 5, 2022, and when Kikuyu police visited the school yesterday (Thursday), they were informed of what transpired and the theft allegations were dismissed.
The OCPD stated that no one was detained or asked to record a statement in relation to the event, as reported by several media outlets.
