
Fire Destroys Dormitory and Classrooms in Nandi Secondary School
A fire incident occurred at Fr. Kuhn Mixed Day Secondary School in Chepsonoi, Nandi County, resulting in the loss of valuable property.
The fire began in one of the dormitories and later spread to two classrooms in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Upon receiving the report, the Nandi County fire team promptly arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire, preventing further damage.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, due to the intensity of the fire, the belongings of the students housed in the affected dormitory and classrooms could not be salvaged.
Harrison Muriuki, the Nandi County Director of Education, stated that the cause of the fire is still unknown.
As a result, a team from the Ministry of Education has been dispatched to gather more information regarding the incident.
Despite the unfortunate event, Mr. Muriuki assured that the students would not be sent home.
Instead, they are expected to remain in school while the ministry makes arrangements for temporary boarding facilities for those who lost all their belongings in the fire.
The fire at Fr. Kuhn Mixed Day Secondary School has undoubtedly caused significant damage and disruption.
The loss of valuable property, including personal belongings of the students, is a distressing outcome of the incident.
