Female Form One Student Gets Placement In Lenana Boys National School
A state of confusion has enveloped the family of Gloria Adhiambo Owino, a 14-year-old who emerged as the top performer in the KCPE examinations at Nyalgunga Primary School in Alego/Usonga sub-county last year.
Gloria, who scored an impressive 389 points, qualifying for admission to a national school, was elated along with her family members. However, their joy turned into dismay when she went to download her calling letter, only to discover an unexpected twist – she had been assigned to Lenana School, a boys’ institution.

In an interview with Radio Ramogi at her parents’ residence in Nyalgunga trading center, Gloria revealed that she had initially received placement at Lenana School, which is exclusively for boys.
Despite her attempts to secure another calling letter, especially considering she had applied to several schools in the National Schools category, including Alliance, Starehe Girls, and Kisumu Girls, she found herself stranded.
Amidst the confusion caused by the erroneous Form One placement, Gloria, now facing an uncertain future, is also grappling with financial constraints.

Despite her desire to attend Kisumu Girls, she lamented that her parents are unable to afford the school fees. Consequently, she is making a heartfelt plea to the government, local leaders, and well-wishers to intervene and support her pursuit of becoming a medical doctor.
Gloria’s mother, Margaret Awuor Halowe, shared their unsuccessful attempts to secure scholarships from financial institutions and appealed to well-wishers for assistance in obtaining the correct placement for her daughter, along with help in meeting the associated school fees.
