How to Access and Download Form One Placement Letter, 2024
The Ministry of Education awarded Form One placements to 1.4 million candidates who took the KCPE in 2023.
Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary for Education, has confirmed the placement of all eligible examination candidates in public secondary schools.
All over-age learners are now under consideration for placement in Adult and Continuing Education institutions by the Directorate of Adult and Continuing Education
Candidates with 400 marks or higher were allocated spots in their preferred National or Extra County schools. Likewise, other candidates were assigned to county or sub-county schools based on established conditions.

Machogu clarified that learners with special needs were appropriately placed, considering their disability categories, merit, and personal preferences.
How to Access and Download Form One Placement Letter
Form One Placement Checking Online:
- Visit the Education Ministry Online Services website.
- Enter the KCPE Index number for the school category.
- Enter the county and sub-county where the candidate took the KCPE and follow the instructions.

Form One Placement Letter via SMS:
- Open your phone’s Messages app.
- Send an SMS to 22263 with your KCPE index number.
- Following successful processing, you will be notified of the school to which you have been placed.
- N/B: This SMS service costs 25 shillings and is available on Safaricom, Airtel, and Telkom networks.

Online Form One Admission Letter Download:
Log in to the Ministry of Education’s official website.
Follow the following steps:
- Select “Form One Selection.”
- Select a school category (National, Extracurricular, or County School).
- Choose the county and sub-county in which the individual sat the KCPE Exams.
- Enter the Index Number and click the Submit button.
- Download the “Admission Letter” to your computer by clicking on it.
- To print, open the downloaded file and select “Print.”
- Bring the printed admittance letter to your Headteacher for approval.
On the reporting date, students must submit a stamped copy of their admission letter and a copy of their original birth certificate to the secondary school.

The CS announced that 42,927 children secured placements in National Schools, 274,746 in Extra County Schools, 288,201 in County Schools, 792,230 in Sub-County Schools, and 2,225 in Special Needs Education (SNE).
He emphasized that the National Government Administration Officers will collaborate with county and sub-county education officials to ensure that no child is denied secondary education.
