Egerton University has announced that it will auction off over 70 of its properties.
In a notice published in local newspapers, the institution of higher learning listed cows worth Ksh50,000 each, goats, and ICT equipment as among the items for sale.
Other properties for sale include motor vehicle parts, assorted old catering equipment, and bull camels valued at Ksh80,000 each.
The notice also stated that those interested in participating in the auction can view the properties at Njoro and Kenyatta campuses on various dates.
Egerton University (EU) in conjunction with Platinum Auctioneers shall sell by Public Auction the under mentioned motor vehicles, spare parts, animals and ICT equipment,” read the notice in part.
The official auction is scheduled to begin on March 9 at Chemeron Field Station in Baringo County. The second round of the Auction will be held on Monday, March 14, at the Njoro Campus Grounds.

How to Participate
Those interested in participating in the exercise should pay a refundable deposit of Ksh50,000 per motor vehicle and Ksh10,000 for the animals and assorted goods in the form of a banker’s cheque at the fall of the harmer to obtain a bidding number.
Bidders are also advised to bring the deposit receipt with them on the day of the public auction.
Following the completion of the exercise, the purchasers will be required to deposit 25% of the purchase price into the University’s bank account by the close of business on the auction day.

The balance must also be settled within 14 days of the auction date into the same account, or the money received, including the deposit, will be forfeited.
“The University and the Auctioneer shall not take any responsibility for the condition or state of the item purchased as each prospective bidder is expected to have viewed the items prior to the auction date. The sale is on ‘as-is-where-is basis’,” added the notice.
The university also stated that Covid-19 protocols will be followed.
