Courses Preferred By Top KCSE Performers.Top performers in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) are always regarded as the society’s crème de la crème.They are frequently placed in universities to take some of the most prestigious courses, which lead to admirable careers.Students who excelled in the 2021 KCSE examinations, the results of which were released on Saturday, April 23, by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha, have expressed hope that they will be placed in their preferred universities to pursue courses they have always wanted to pursue.Jariel Obura, who finished first in the 2021 KCSE, plans to attend Maseno University and study medicine.“I would like to pursue a course in medicine and maybe specialise in orthopaedics,“ said the former Mang’u High school student.Mukuha Anthony of Alliance High and who came second wants to study medicine just like Obura. He, however, has not figured out what he would like to specialise in.Angel Muthoni of Alliance Girls says she is interested in many careers, but her burning desire to save lives drives her to study medicine and neurosurgery.“I could fly planes or be an engineer, but there is a thrill that comes with saving lives, being responsible enough to be trusted with someone’s life. I would love to study medicine in India or Australia,” Muthoni stated.Gerri Nyegenye aspires to be a lawyer after being inspired by her father, the Senate Clerk. Gerri, who enjoys reading legal thriller novels, aspires to join her family’s long line of lawyers.“We have a lot of lawyers in the family and they have contributed a big chunk of me wanting to pursue law,” says Kabarak High School’s second best student.The top students who have expressed interest in engineering courses are Sicily Mutheu of Kenya High and Abigael Kamau of Alliance Girls High School, who plan to study software engineering and civil engineering, respectively.“I loved physics and mathematics, I think an engineering course – civil engineering to be specific – would be good for me” Abigael stated.Unlike their 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) counterparts, who have expressed interest in tech careers, the 2021 KCSE giants appear to prefer traditional courses.AKLSO READ:The majority of 2021 KCPE giants want to work in technology, with the top candidate, Bruce Mackenzie, stating that he wants to study robotics after high school.When the KCSE exams were released last week, CS Magoha encouraged students who scored below the university requirement grade of C+ to pursue courses at technical and vocational training institutes.Courses Preferred By Top KCSE Performers
