Butula Boys Ready To Shine At East Africa School Games in Rwanda
Livondo Shimenga, the head coach of the Butula Boys rugby 15s team, is ready to lead his squad to the East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association championship in Rwanda in August.
After winning the national championship in April, where they defeated All Saints Embu 38-0 in the final in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, according to Shimenga, his squad has begun rigorous training.
“We are preparing for the East Africa Secondary School Games in Rwanda in August. We want to go there to win and make Kenya proud.
We are focusing on some of the minor errors we made during the national championships, including passing and other aspects of the game. We are assured in our success in Rwanda, stated Shimenga.
The former St. Peters Mumias coach maintains his team will not fear their Rwandan opponents, despite Namuliango College and Enterre College being identified as a threat to their title hopes.
"I know there are teams from Uganda like; Hannas Junior School, Namuliango College and Enterre College that will pose a great challenge to us. But since we have enough tim, roughly a month, we are going to prepare very well in readiness for the showdown in Rwanda”, added Shimenga.
Shimenga led St. Peter’s Mumias to become the first Kenyan team to win the East Africa rugby sevens championship in 2016, defeating Kololo Secondary School 21-14 at Eldoret Sports Club.
