18-Year-Old 2022 KCSE Girl Who Left Home To Live With Boyfriend Found Dead, Head Missing
An 18-year-old 2022 KCSE student who left her home on December 24, 2022 was found dead with her head severed at Rwerea hills in Tigania Central, Meru County, on December 26, 2022.
Beatrice Gatwiri, who was living with her grandmother, reportedly left home shortly after completing her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams to live with her boyfriend, Allan Kirimi.
However, according to a police report, she left her boyfriend’s residence after a few days, and on January 13 of this year, her decapitated, half-naked body was discovered in the thickets of the Rwerea hills, generating speculation about what may have occurred.
Police Commander of the Tigania Central sub-county, Joel Chepkwony, stated that the head has not yet been recovered, adding that the boyfriend and another man who saw the body in the jungle have been arrested.
The police chief claimed that the two suspects are currently being held and assisting with investigations.
According to a member of the deceased’s family, the deceased’s grandmother has refused to bury the body without the head, stating that the trauma could also bring her to an early grave.
The family stated that, according to the norms and traditions of the Ameru community, it is forbidden to bury a person that is missing other parts, particularly the head, because doing so could supposedly bring about a curse.
According to the Police Commander, the greatest obstacle they have in their investigations is the public’s reluctance to provide information about the days preceding up to Gatwiri’s abduction and murder.
In addition to the Administration Police and local Chiefs, who have already begun searching the hills for the head, he is now pleading with the people for assistance.
