TSC Curriculum Support Officers (CSO) Roles and Duties.

The Curriculum Support Officer (CSO) is a unit established by the Teachers Service Commission to decentralize commission activities.

Curriculum Support Officers (CSO) are appointed at the zonal level or any other level within the sub-county to ensure high-quality instruction and learning.

The Curriculum Support Officer is accountable to the Sub-County Director for the following responsibilities:

Identifying the training requirements of school administrators and teachers and advising the Commission appropriately;

Communicating with the Sub-County Director and school administrators, offering support services to teachers, and regularly advising on teaching strategies, appropriate textbooks, lesson demonstrations, and identified issues;

Organizing and directing, in collaboration with the Sub-County Directors, seminars, workshops, retreats, and in-service programs on curriculum delivery and implementation;

Advising teachers on the essential resources, such as resource books, consumables, audio-visual aids, and other tools for effective teaching and learning;

Assisting teachers in the creation and application of suitable instructional aids and other reference materials;

Keeping teachers informed about changes in the curriculum, methodology, topic coverage, and any other emergent difficulties in the teaching service;

Creating work plans for the Curriculum Support Center;

Visiting schools, observing teaching approaches, demonstrating lessons, and advising teachers on the most effective teaching methods and strategies.

Assisting with the establishment and organization of subjects and examinations/panels, as well as examinations and evaluations in schools at the zonal level;

Providing teachers with professional guidance and counseling and sharing information on curriculum, evaluation, textbook selection, and training;

Collecting and transmitting statistics on school enrollment, staff establishment, staff changes, and other pertinent information to the Sub-County Director;

Participating in the planning and administration of extracurricular activities;

Improving teaching and learning through collaborating with the Quality Assurance and Standards Officer;

Preparing periodic progress reports for forwarding to the appropriate offices;

Performing any additional duties that may be required to promote teaching standards
