Tom Mboya University Announces Death of Academic Registrar Jared Odoyo Malela.
Tom Mboya University has announced the passing on of its Academic Registrar, Jared Odoyo Malela who was also the Head of Academics and Student Affairs.
The announcement was made on 11th September 2025 by the Administration and Human Resource Department. According to the department, Malela passed on the same day. Funeral and burial arrangements are in progress and will be communicated later.
Until his death, Malela was in charge of academic and student affairs at Tom Mboya University. The institution has sent condolences to his family, colleagues and friends.
The news has attracted messages of condolence from the university fraternity, colleagues and leaders who praised his role in establishment and growth of Tom Mboya University.
Leaders, colleagues, and associates have issued tributes following the announcement.
Hon. Peter Kaluma, Member of Parliament for Homa Bay Constituency, stated: “I am saddened by the news of the untimely demise of Prof. Malela, Academic Registrar, Tom Mboya University. A humble and thoughtful academic, Prof. Malela made huge contributions to the establishment of the premium Tom Mboya University. May God comfort and strengthen your family. Rest in peace.”
Tom Mboya University (Institutional Statement): “It is a moment of immense loss to the entire Tom Mboya University fraternity and as a family, as we mourn the loss of our beloved Registrar, who passed on this morning. May the Almighty God grant eternal rest to his soul and may He also strengthen each one of us as we hold dearly to the cherished memories we shared together.”
