The Stellenbosch University Postgraduate Scholarship will provide funding of up to $24,871 (ZAR 420,000) to selected Master’s and PhD students starting their programs at the university in 2023.
In addition to study fees and a stipend, the scholarship may cover research activities with your supervisor, such as a writing retreat, conference attendance, and publication costs up to $3,108.87 (ZAR52 500), based on an application made during the study period.

Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is also pleased to announce a limited number of full-time scholarships for master’s (full thesis) or Ph.D. studies in collaboration with the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Scholarship Requirements:
– In order to be considered for a scholarship at Stellenbosch, you must meet the following criteria:
– should have obtained at least 70% in the previous completed degree’s final year
– be of African origin
