Speaking at Kiuu River Secondary School, CS Prof George Magoha stated that the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination is going well.
“I would like to thank all the teachers, stakeholders and security personnel for doing an excellent job in ensuring that the national examinations are being carried out extremely well, without any hitches,” said Magoha.
According to the CS, only a few people have been arrested for examination cheating in the ongoing KCSE examination.
“One case was caught in Airport View School in Garissa, where Mary Muthui, a teacher, was caught taking a picture of an examination paper. Another case was in Garbatula in Isiolo.
The two are already in police custody and will serve as a deterrent to others with similar intentions, according to the Education CS.
Security officers manning examinations in Isiolo have been put on high alert following an incident on Monday in which four teachers, including the principal, were arrested on suspicion of assisting examination malpractice.
Evans Achoki, the Eastern Regional Commissioner, stated that security teams in the region are focused on delivering credible exams.
“I urge all those involved to cooperate for a credible examination. There must be honesty in the national examinations. The certificate must reflect the true abilities of a learner. We want our certificates to be respectable worldwide,” Mr Achoki said in Meru town after supervising the collection of KCSE papers.
