ODM’s Nuru Okanga Joins Form One at St Aquinas Day School

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) enthusiast Nuru Okanga has announced his enrollment at St. Aquinas Ebuchinga Day School in Kakamega County following the completion of last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

In a statement to the media, Okanga explained that he deferred his admission to Form One due to involvement in corporate social responsibilities.

While students commenced the new term on Monday, January 15, Okanga was actively engaged in donating books and other school supplies as part of programs supported by various stakeholders.

Despite his delayed arrival, he commended the school principal for warmly welcoming him and expressed confidence that the institution would provide ample opportunities for learning, staying informed about day-to-day politics, and spending time with his family.

Okanga, addressing inquiries about his delayed admission, shared, “People kept asking if I would join Form One, but I was focused on supporting fellow students by providing books and pens. Now, I am ready to start.”

Opting for day school, he emphasized the need to fulfill his family responsibilities. He added, “Though the school day ends at 6:00 pm, I’ll request the principal to allow me to leave by 4:00 pm to attend to political matters and spend time with my family.”

Expressing gratitude, the vocal Azimio supporter acknowledged his wife’s support and prayers, stating, “My wife has no objections; she will support me on this journey and has assured me of her prayers throughout my school experience.”

In a plea to ODM party leader Raila Odinga, Okanga urged for financial assistance, requesting, “I appeal to Raila to back my education by covering my entire fees and rent. As his soldier leading up to 2027, I implore him to support me throughout this political and academic journey.”

Despite inquiries about seeking bursaries from local politicians, including ODM party member Governor Fernandes Barasa, Okanga declined to respond.

The young politician gained attention during the release of the KCPE 2023 examination results, with unconfirmed reports suggesting he scored over 400 marks. Okanga, who took the national exam at Mumias Muslim Primary School, remained evasive about his actual results.
