Magoha’s Instructions to Wife Before Death
According to a close friend of the late Education Cabinet Secretary, George Magoha, Magoha had a feeling that he was going to pass away and gave instructions to his wife, Barbara.
The friend, Dr. Walter Mwanda, stated that Magoha instructed his wife to contact his son and daughter-in-law, but did not reveal what was said in that conversation.
Mwanda added that Barbara Magoha will provide more information on her husband’s final instructions in the future.
The medic, Mwanda, shared that his patient, Magoha, had a feeling that his time had come and expressed to his wife that he was at peace.
He requested for her to contact their son and daughter-in-law, as well as Mwanda himself.
“At about 3 pm she called me and told me that she needed me urgently. I asked a doctor to take over the patient’s examination and got into my car and left for his home,” he stated.
Mwanda received a call from Magoha’s wife in the afternoon and immediately left Kenyatta National Hospital to attend to him.
Interestingly, Magoha’s request for his son to be present almost saved his life as the son, who is also a doctor, was able to revive him during the first collapse at home.
However, Magoha collapsed again on the way to the hospital and ultimately passed away due to cardiac arrest. His body was later taken to Lee Funeral Home.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has expressed his condolences for the passing of his predecessor, Professor George Magoha, describing him as a “consummate and dedicated public servant.”
Machogu stated that he looked up to Magoha for advice and that his contributions to both medicine and education will be remembered for a long time.
He also mentioned that Magoha’s tenure at the University of Nairobi, as well as his time in the national government, was a model of good leadership.
Machogu said that Magoha’s death is not only a loss to his family but to the entire country and that he offers his thoughts and prayers to Magoha’s family during this difficult time.
