KNUT Defends 7 Teachers Who Forced Pupils To Perform Mock Sex
An official from the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Gucha branch has defended the accused teachers who forced four Itumbe DOK Primary School pupils to perform mock sex.
KNUT official claims that they were on a fact-finding mission to collect evidence of the children’s alleged indecent behavior.
According to the union official, a pupil had reported to the teachers that some of his colleagues were playing mock sex in a nearby forested field within the school compound.
The teachers then summoned the pupils and ordered them to demonstrate what they had been doing, with the video being recorded by a subordinate staff member to show the boys’ parents.
The Knut official stated that the teachers did not intend to subject the learners to humiliation by recording them, and they have impeccable moral values.
Six of the seven accused teachers have already been interdicted by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and are required to show cause why they should not be deregistered.
The TSC letters stated that the teachers instructed and coerced grade 2 learners to engage in inappropriate and indecent acts depicting homosexuality within the school compound, actively participated in the recording of the video, and circulated it on social media, causing trauma, psychological, and mental torture to the minors.
Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu had earlier warned that teachers would face disciplinary action, including dismissal, for any unethical behavior.
This situation has sparked a debate about the responsibilities and obligations of teachers and the impact of their actions on pupils.
It also raises concerns about the need for stricter regulations to protect minors and prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
