Kenyan Teachers to be Deployed in Djibouti — President Ruto
President William Ruto has announced 600 employment opportunities for Kenyan professionals in Djibouti as a result of labor agreements between the two countries.
At a press conference hosted by his Djibouti counterpart on 11th June, Ismail Omar Guellah, the Head of State announced that a Joint Technical Committee had been constituted in order to implement the change.
As a consequence, Ruto offered 300 positions to Djiboutian students at the same tuition rates applicable to Kenyans in various Kenyan institutions of higher education.
Ruto remarked that Kenyan teachers would be sent to Djibouti to assist with the English language training program.
Simultaneously, he added that Kenyans would also benefit from Djiboutian French trainees and that the language would be taught in Kenyan institutions of Technical and Vocational Education Training and medical training colleges.
“Kenyan Technical and Vocational Education Training institutions, as well as medical training colleges, will benefit from the inclusion of French language trainees from Djibouti to improve the language proficiency of Kenyan graduates seeking employment abroad,” added Ruto.
In addition, he mentioned that both administrations had agreed to expedite the process of recognizing certificates issued by higher education institutions in both countries.
“I express my gratitude to my esteemed counterpart for hosting over 600 Kenyan professionals in Djibouti. To facilitate this process, we have established a Joint Technical Committee dedicated to these efforts.
President Ruto stated that Kenya had completed the necessary procedures to allow visa-free travel for Djiboutian citizens to Kenya, stating that this would facilitate trade, investments, and interactions between Kenyans and Djiboutians.
On Saturday, June 10, President William Ruto flew to the Republic of Djibouti to attend the 14th Ordinary Assembly of the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD).
