Why Nanyuki School Is The Most Sought-After School In Kenya.
One would wonder why more than 150,000 KCPE exam candidates applied for 480 spots at Nanyuki School for the second year in a row.
On Monday, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha revealed that the school was the most popular, with 156, 003 students wishing to enrol in Form One.
Last year, 154,524 KCPE exam candidates chose the School, and the School’s remarkable academic growth and emphasis on technical training have everything to do with the overwhelming interest.
A sharp improvement in the school’s performance over the last four years, as well as the introduction of technical subjects, resulted in 154,524 applications to the school, which is located in the Nanyuki town suburbs.
Aviation, electricity, building, woodwork, agriculture, and computer are among the technical subjects available. They also speak French.
All Form One students select one technical subject, which they can continue to study in the final year or drop during the Form Two subject selection process.
The technical subjects are intended to provide the boys with skills that they will need once they complete secondary school, as well as to nurture their talents.
According to Nation.Africa, the technical skills perform very well, and the first batch of aviation students achieved a mean score of 10 points in the 2020 KCSE exam.
The 29 students in woodworking had a mean score of 11.5 points, down from 12 points the previous year, and the 18 computer students had a mean score of 11.8 points.
Other academic policies include multiple benchmarking, capacity building, parent-teacher policies, ICT integration in learning, and student involvement in teaching and learning.
The administration has also delegated its responsibilities to the students, who have formed administrations complete with a principal, deputy, and career manager.
As a result, it became the most sought-after school in the country.
Nanyuki Boys exudes excellence, from the beautiful floral arrangement to the majestic administration block, library, and renovated classrooms.
The boys’ demeanour, hurried gait, and calmness, as they go about their learning, demonstrate a level of concentration that justifies the school’s national status.
They have a strict schedule that they have followed for years, and it is incorporated not only into their lives but also into the lives of their teachers.
This, according to Mr Minishi, has cascaded down the management to the students, where many issues are handled, making it easier for students to speak up and interact with their teachers.
Aside from regular classwork, the boys participate in a variety of activities, such as continuous assessment tests during lunch breaks and multiple tests to keep students exam-ready throughout the year.
They take at least four exams per term.
