Why Goldalyn Kakuya Is Missing Among Top KCSE Candidates List.Goldalyn Kakuya made headlines in 2017 after scoring 455 points in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Exam.On Saturday, April 23, Kenyans who remembered her waited to hear her name as Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha announced the 2021 KCSE results. That did not occur.It has emerged that Kakuya, who was admitted to Kenya High School, did not take the 2021 KCSE.The 2017 KCPE champion is now a student at Brookhouse School after switching from the 8-4-4 system to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).Kakuya joined Brookhouse in 2019 after receiving a scholarship from First Lady Margaret Kenyatta for her outstanding performance. The top student left Kenya High and enrolled in Year 10, which was the equivalent of the class she was in under the 8-4-4 system.Even in the new IGCSE system, she maintained her academic excellence. In 2020, she finished second in the school’s Year 11 examination, trailing only Sean Theuri.Goldalyn performed admirably in the year’s exams, earning eight A*s and two As. Students can choose from nine subjects, with Math, English Language, English Literature, and at least one science required.Brookhouse Schools’ Head Teacher Eric Mulindi praised the students’ and staff’s efforts, calling it a team effort. Nominated Senator, who was impressed with Gakuya’s performance, also congratulated her on her accomplishments.“Our little girl is still topping in her class with straight As. I am glad to have been her destiny connector to study at the prestigious Brookhouse School courtesy of the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta after we took her to meet the President. Truly proud of her,” Mwaura wrote.She moved on to the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced Level (AL) in Years 12 and 13, respectively, after finishing Year 11. Kakuya will take her final A-level exam in 2022 before continuing on to university.ALSO READ:Aside from Kakuya, the top 2018 KCPE candidate Olive Wachira, who scored 453 points, was also sponsored by the Margaret Kenyatta Foundation to attend Brookhouse School.Under the Magoha era, Kakuya’s record has yet to be broken, with Olivia coming the closest.
