Western Scholars Congratulate Ruto And Express Their Desires
Western Kenyan academics congratulated President-elect William Ruto on his victory.
In their congratulatory message, the Western Scholars Organisation described Ruto as an icon of excellence and a source of inspiration for every Kenyan.
They stated that their support for Ruto was motivated by his stance on issues of great importance to the region under Kenya Kwanza’s bottom-up economic model.
“We affirm our support for the President-elect and his entire team, including Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula, both of whom are our sons from Western Kenya,” read a statement signed by the group’s chairman, Prof. Sammy Kubasu.
The scholars are optimistic that the new regime will revitalize stalled industries in the region, including the troubled Mumias Sugar Company, the struggling Nzoia Sugar Company, and the Webuye Pan-paper Company.
“His vision and mission of revitalizing stalled industries will go a long way toward boosting employment, income, and regional development.” They said.
They urged Ruto to refine and revise the CBC curriculum with the participation of all stakeholders.
They stated that the new regime should address the issues of increasing funding in all education sectors, hiring additional staff to manage the staffing shortage, and improving infrastructure in schools, colleges, and universities, including the construction of new schools, colleges, TVETS, and universities.
Kenya Kwanza promised to eliminate the CBC education system if elected during their campaigns.
They urged the new administration to encourage cottage industry through value addition, such as pottery and basketry in Kakamega and simsim in Busia. This is an innovative concept.
