US Opens DV-2024 Green Card Lottery Portal for Applicants; How to Check Status
The US Department of State has opened its online portal for applicants of the DV-2024 green card programme, commonly known as the green card lottery, to check if they were successful.
The programme’s registration period ran from October 5 to November 8, 2022. The State Department has also announced the dates for the visa interviews at US embassies worldwide for successful applicants.
Those who lost their confirmation number can retrieve it by clicking on “Forgot confirmation number” and providing their name and email address as required.
How to Check
To check the status of their Visa application, applicants must input their confirmation number, last name or family name, date of birth, and authentication code on the website dvprogram.state.gov.
The Department of State has reminded applicants that the law only allows for one entry per person per registration period. Submitting multiple entries will result in disqualification.
The portal will remain open until September 30, 2023, for DV-2023 applicants. The DV-2025 program’s registration period will open between October and November 2023, and applicants will know the status of their application in May 2024.
In addition, the US Embassy has opened applications for the 2024 programme of the Visa lottery. The Electronic Diversity Visa (E-DV) website is the only place where entries can be submitted.
After submitting a complete entry, applicants will receive a confirmation screen containing their name and a unique confirmation number, which must be printed for record-keeping purposes.
The US Department of State uses sophisticated technology to detect multiple entries, and those who submit more than one entry will be disqualified. The portal for DV-2024 applicants will remain open until September 30, 2024.
