The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has issued a warning to 2022 Kenya Secondary Certificate of Education (KCSE) candidates about limited university slots.

In a public notice dated January 30, the placement body advised students to be cautious when applying for the limited slots.

KUCCPS revealed that it has not yet opened the application portal, but soon 2022 KCSE students will have access to choose their preferred universities and courses.

“Once we open the portal, students will be required to do their first revision which is based on applications,” the placement body stated.

“If you miss applying during the second revision, the majority of courses will not be available,” KUCCPS warned. The placement body highlighted that courses like medicine, engineering, computer science, and other competitive courses have limited slots.

To help students make informed decisions, KUCCPS will provide a guide on various courses offered by different universities and colleges.

“Once you access the portal, go to your dashboard and download pdfs available showing courses offered in various institutions,” KUCCPS advised.

“Do not go online to search for courses offered in any institution to avoid being misled, only use the pdfs provided by KUCCPS,” the placement body warned.

KUCCPS explained how students will apply for courses according to their KCSE mean grade.

Students who scored above C+ will be eligible to apply for degree courses while those who attained C plain and C- will apply for diploma courses.

“For students applying for degree courses, check if you meet all the minimum subject requirements and also the cut-off points,” KUCCPS advised.

The cut-off points will be calculated by KUCCPS and automatically posted on the student’s portal.

Students applying for different degree and diploma courses will pay an application fee of Ksh1,500.

“The application fee is not applicable to those who had applied while in their former secondary schools,” KUCCPS announced.

To access the KUCCPS portal, students can log in to www(dot)students(dot)kuccps(dot)net/login/.
