The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the re-advertisement of internship vacancies for Junior Secondary schools.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for recruitment, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

– Kenyan Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of Kenya.

– Educational Qualification: Candidates should hold a minimum of a diploma in education, with a mean grade of C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). They should also have attained a C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects or their equivalent.

– Teacher Registration: Applicants must be registered teachers with the Teachers Service Commission.

TSC Vacancies: Junior Secondary General Information

To ensure a smooth application process and selection of candidates, it is important to note the following information:

– Recruitment Guidelines: The Commission’s Recruitment Guidelines for the recruitment of Teacher Interns for the 2022/2023 Financial Year (Post Primary Institutions) will apply.

– Presentation of Original Certificates: Shortlisted candidates will be required to present their original academic and professional certificates during the selection process.

– Merit-Based Selection: Selection of candidates will be strictly based on merit, and the number of vacancies per county will be taken into consideration.

– Previous Employment: Applicants who were previously employed by the Teachers Service Commission on a permanent and pensionable basis, as well as those who have served under the TSC internship program, are not eligible to apply.

– Multiple Applications: Candidates can apply to a maximum of two schools with declared vacancies.

– Offer of Internship Engagement: Successful candidates must not accept more than one offer of internship engagement. Taking multiple offers will lead to disqualification.

– Personal Accident Insurance: Successful applicants will be required to have a Personal Accident Insurance policy to cover personal risks during the internship period.

Duration of Internship

The internship period will last for twelve (12) months, providing interns with valuable teaching experience and professional growth opportunities.

Monthly Stipend for Teacher Interns

While the engagement is not remunerative, teacher interns attached to secondary schools will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Kshs. 20,000/-.

The stipend will be paid after statutory deductions, where applicable.

Internship Certificate

Upon successful completion of the Internship Programme, teacher interns will be awarded a certificate recognizing their achievement and valuable teaching experience gained during the internship period.
