The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is responsible for recruiting teachers in Kenya. They also play a crucial role in the performance appraisal of teachers until their retirement.

3. Appraise the Deputy Head/Principal at the school level through scheduled appraisal meetings.
4. Training all teachers on the new TPAD.
5. Expunging teachers who have left their institution from both TMIS and TPAD.

Roles of Deputy Head

The second in command when it comes to school administration has been assigned the following responsibilities in the new TPAD:

1. Observing all Heads of Departments, also known as HODs and Classroom Teachers, as they perform their duties.
2. Updating the weekly lesson attendance registers of teachers.
3. Appraising all Heads of departments and classroom teachers through scheduled appraisal meetings.

What is Different in the New TPAD Tool?

Unlike the old TPAD, which had seven areas to be filled, the new TPAD comes with only five standard areas. The areas provided for in the tool are:

3. Teacher professional development

5. Participation in a professional learning community

Procedure for Creating a New TSC TPAD 2 Account

Creating a new TPAD account is quite simple and straightforward. Follow the steps outlined below:

1. Go to the account creation portal from where you will access the TPAD2 account login page.
2. A form will be shown requiring you to input your TSC number, ID number, phone number, email address, and password. Those are the details you will use to create your account.
3. Click on the ‘create’ button, and a success message will be displayed.
4. An SMS token will be sent to your phone for the TPAD2 account activation. Use the code sent to you to verify the token and complete the registration process.

Adding Your Biodata

After creating your TPAD account, the next step is to add your biodata. Begin by adding your level of education as well as subject combination details. The steps at this level include:

1. Add your information, such as institution information and contact information.
2. Select your subjects combination and add the subjects that you teach.
3. Add the level of education, KSCE grade, and institution of study.

Login and Filling Appraisal Data

The TPAD login account is accessed with the password you created when registering your account. After that, you will be expected to fill out appraisal forms online. This stage is completed with the following steps:

Click on “proceed to login” and enter your account details. After logging in, you will be directed to the TPAD dashboard, which displays your profile information, appraisals, and other relevant information.

To start filling out an appraisal form, click on the “Start Appraisal” button on the dashboard. You will then be prompted to select the eligibility criteria for the appraisal, which may include your subject specialization, level of teaching, and years of experience.
