The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to recruit 506 new teachers for Tana River County in December, according to Kenya’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

The recruitment is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address teacher shortages and improve education standards across the country.

This allocation is drawn from the nationwide drive to hire 20,000 new teachers this year, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, particularly in underserved regions like Tana River.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector, noting significant strides made over the past two years.

“In the last two years, we have employed 56,000 teachers to ensure our students receive quality education. This year, we are recruiting an additional 20,000 teachers, with 506 positions allocated to Tana River County,” he stated.

The Deputy President reiterated that the government is determined to address staffing challenges in schools, especially in marginalized areas like Tana River County.
