TSC To Dispatch Newly Recruited Teachers To Junior Secondary Schools
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is expected to dispatch new teachers to Grade 7 schools as Junior Secondary School (JSS) learners opening today.
TSC had revealed that it will retool the newly hired teachers and send them to schools by January 30th.
According to the TSC Chief Executive Officer, Nancy Macharia, the teachers who have already been trained will be retooling the new teachers.
The target is to train 90,000 teachers between January and April.
All interns who have been serving in 2022 will be absorbed and become permanent and pensionable teachers.
This announcement is according to a memo signed by TSC Director of Staffing, Joseph Mugele, on January 11th.
The memo stated that the interviews for the exercise would commence on Friday, January 13th and the recruitment documents would be scheduled for February 6th.
The Director requested that the interns should not be removed from the payroll and that this would help in waiting for their employees under the new terms.
In December, the commission had announced that 10,000 of the teachers would be employed on permanent pensionable terms while 25,550 would be intern teachers.
Out of these, 9,000 slots were for permanent secondary school teachers and 1,000 for primary school teachers while 21,550 slots were for intern teachers for Junior Secondary Schools.
The commission had also stated that another 4,000 intern teachers would be hired for primary schools.
