TSC Suspends Nyamninia Primary School Teachers Accused of Assaulting Pupil
Two teachers at Nyamninia Primary School have been placed on forced leave by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
An assault case involving a student who was allegedly caned by Paul Otieno Osogo and Maurine Awuor Otieno for failing to achieve 400 marks is at the center of attention.
They provided copies of their interdiction letters to the court through their attorney, Edwin Ooro during the bond application hearing on Tuesday, August 30, at the Siaya Law Courts.
Before Principal Magistrate Lester Simiyu, Ooro argued that the two should be allowed a bond because they were not in a position to meddle with the case after being interdicted.
Ooro argued that the objection to the bond was pointless and a waste of valuable judicial time.
Dancun Otieno Ochido, the minor’s father, had also written to the court to ask for the case to be dropped, but his request was denied.
Tracy Nambisia, who was in charge of the prosecution, argued that the teachers would obstruct witnesses and asked the court to reject the teachers’ bond.
She argued that because the witnesses were children, they could be intimidated by the teachers who were in hot water.
The teachers knew the witness and could easily locate him, according to Nambisia and the investigating officer Pauline Wekesa.
Because they are well acquainted with the youngsters, the accused can still locate them, threaten them, and prevent them from appearing in court, according to Nambisia.
Meshack Orondo, the school’s deputy headteacher, refused to provide more information to TUKO.co.ke about the teachers’ interdiction.

Bravin will continue to take his exams at Nyamninia Primary School as a candidate for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
It is said that until the exam is completed, two teachers from his new school would accompany him as he takes his exams.
