TSC New Marking Scheme & Scores For Selections in Teachers Recruitment
The Teachers Service Commission announced the criteria for the mass recruitment of primary school teachers in 2023 before to the resumption of schools on January 23.
According to the announcement, the applicants would be among the thirty thousand teachers who will be invited by TSC to verify their documents.
Seven days after publication, the same email will advise the applicants of the interview location, date, and time.
TSC noted that the verification will be performed at the sub-county level and will be supervised by TSC sub-county directors.
Following the verification process, the TSC Sub-County Director shall produce a merit list of all applicants whose documents have been confirmed.
The merit lists will be utilized to recruit teachers and for any further recruitment during the fiscal year.
According to TSC, in the event of a tie amongst applicants, the selection panel will be required to evaluate the length of instructors’ tenure and their academic excellence.
Score Sheet
When ranking the teachers, the TSC selection committee will consider professional P1 qualifications, age, and length of service since earning certification.
Each category will have a maximum possible score of 100.
Professional P1 teachers will be required to achieve a maximum score of five points, excluding teaching practice.
Teachers with six to twenty-eight points will receive a maximum of five scores based on their performance in the interview.
Those with 29 to 50 points will receive a maximum score of three, while those with 51 to 64 points would receive two scores for P1 qualifying.
Regarding age, the panel of judges will award a maximum score of 20 points.
Teachers above the age of 50 will be given the maximum possible 20 points based on their performance in front of the selection committee.
Those younger than 43 years old will receive fewer than five scores.
The scores given to applicants seeking positions as primary school teachers will vary according to the length of time since their certification.
Those who have remained in service since 2010 will be awarded 70 points, 2011-65 points, 2012-60 points, 2013-55 points, 2014-50 points, and 2015-45 points.
Those who have served since 2016 will receive a score of 40 points, those who have served since 2017 will receive 35 points, those who have served since 2018 will receive 30 points, those who have served since 2020 will receive 25 points, and those who have served since 2021 will receive 15 points.
Those who qualified in 2022 will receive 10 points.The maximum possible score for Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (CBC Upgrade) is five.
However, prior to mass recruitment, TSC did not disclose the minimum qualifying score for admission to the Teachers Service Commission.
