TSC Document Requirements for Recently Promoted Teachers
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced significant changes to the posting and replacement of acting instructors with newly promoted staff members. These adjustments follow the final release of teacher promotion slots.
The TSC plans to replace individuals who have been serving in acting capacities but were unsuccessful in securing promotions in the past.
This move will affect various administrative roles, including acting principals, senior masters, headteachers, deputy headteachers, and deputy principals.
In late 2023, the TSC advertised 36,505 promotion vacancies. Those selected are currently receiving their promotion letters from their county directors.
The promotion process was necessitated by the retirement of many teachers in January, leading to deputies assuming acting roles as principals and headteachers.
Monitoring and Transfer Instructions
To ensure smooth transitions and avoid vacancies, TSC instructed county and sub-county directors to closely monitor school management.
This directive is part of the TSC’s strategy to guarantee seamless transfers and efficient school administration.
Teacher promotion interviews were conducted in December 2023 and January 2024, involving around 150,000 teachers.
The successful candidates were selected for further consideration based on these interviews.
TSC Document Requirements for Recently Promoted Teachers
Successful candidates must submit the following five Chapter 6 documents before receiving their appointment letters:
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
- Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Clearance Certificate from an authorized Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
- Clearance Certificate from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Promoted deputies and headteachers may be posted outside their current sub-counties. However, those assuming senior teacher roles are expected to fill vacancies within their respective sub-counties.
Most teachers promoted through confirmation will remain at their current schools.
The TSC will send regret letters to all applicants who were not selected, confirming their participation in the interviews.
