TSC Awarded For Championing Teachers’ Service Delivery Innovation.
The reform agenda of the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) has received a boost after the commission was recognized for championing service delivery innovation.
The TSC was awarded for the transformative Online Teacher Performance Appraisal Development (TPAD) and Head Teacher Performance Contract.
During Africa Public Service Day, which was held from June 21-23, 2022 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, under the theme ‘Celebrating Public Service Transformation: Ten Year Journey and Beyond,’ the TSC took second place in the Entrenching Performance Contracting category.
The TPAD is a performance evaluation mechanism that includes appraisal forms, performance contracts for institution heads, and teacher professional development (TPD).
According to the TSC Quality Assurance and Standards Directorate’s TPAD status report, more than 93 percent of students completed the appraisal forms by the end of Term 3 in April, compared to 87 percent at the end of Term 2 and 86 percent at the end of the first term.
TSC employees celebrate their victory at the Africa Public Service Week National Celebrations at the KICC. TSC was ranked second in entrenching performance management and success in cascading performance contracting via the TPAD System.
By the end of the third term, 341,760 teachers had completed the forms, an increase of 4,917 teachers from the previous term.
TPAD allows teachers to fill out and submit appraisals online, which saves time and money on the process.
The event complements the government’s efforts to improve administrative systems for efficient service delivery and economic growth in accordance with the Vision 2030 and Big 4 Agenda development blueprints.
It also allows public servants to promote values like professionalism, accountability, responsiveness, and ethics.
