Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Internship Vacancies for Junior Secondary Schools – October 2024
Overview
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) invites applications from qualified individuals to fill 20,000 teacher internship positions in junior secondary schools to support the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Interested and eligible candidates must apply online by 4th November 2024, midnight on the TSC website at www.tsc.go.ke or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.
Eligibility Criteria for Junior Secondary Teacher Interns
To qualify for this internship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Nationality: Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Educational Qualifications: Hold at least a Diploma in Education, with a minimum mean grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and C+ in two teaching subjects or equivalent qualifications.
- Registration: Must be a registered teacher with the Teachers Service Commission.

- Trained teachers with technical subjects and a TSC registration number are encouraged to apply.
General Information
- Application Method: Only online applications will be considered; manual applications are not accepted.
- Recruitment Guidelines: The 2024/2025 Financial Year guidelines for recruiting teacher interns will apply.
- Employment Status: Candidates must be unemployed and without a prior disciplinary record with TSC.
- Document Verification: Applicants must present original academic and professional certificates.
- Insurance: Successful candidates must have personal accident insurance for risk coverage during the internship.
- Selection Criteria: Selection will be based strictly on merit and available vacancies per county.
- Posting and Duties: Interns will serve in any junior secondary school in the county of interview or wherever vacancies exist within Kenya, teaching various subjects under the Junior School Curriculum.
Document Requirements at Verification
Applicants must produce the following:
- TSC Registration: A print-out or certificate from the TSC portal showing registration status.
- Disability Card (if applicable): National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card.
- ID: National ID card or passport.
- Passport Photos: Two color passport-size photos.
- Tax ID: Kenya Revenue Authority Personal Identification Number (KRA PIN).
Internship Program Details
The Teacher Internship Program is a one-year initiative designed to equip and build the skills of new teachers. Interns will receive mentorship, coaching, and hands-on teaching experience to enhance their professional growth.
- Internship Duration: Twelve (12) months.
- Monthly Stipend: Interns at junior secondary schools will receive Kshs. 20,000, subject to statutory deductions.
- Certificate Awarded: Interns completing the program will receive a certificate of internship.
