Tragic School Bus Accident Claims Lives of Maadili Primary Pupils
Tragedy struck on Saturday as a bus belonging to Maadili Primary School overturned in Mathioya, Murang’a, leaving several pupils feared dead.
Two students reportedly succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at Murang’a Level 5 hospital, following the incident that took place after their return from a scouts event in Nyeri County.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the school bus lost control, veering off the road and overturning in a nearby thicket.
The exact count of fatalities and casualties is still under investigation. Promptly responding to the scene, police officers initiated rescue operations to extricate pupils trapped inside the wreckage of the bus.
Disturbing images circulated widely depict the bus completely deformed, with shattered glass windows strewn around, providing a stark visual of the severity of the accident.

Authorities have launched investigations to determine the root cause of the tragedy.
This unfortunate event follows a similar incident in Vihiga County, where a form one student lost their life, and three others sustained injuries after being struck by a private car while crossing the road on their way to a morning lesson.
Of the three students rushed to Mbale Hospital, two were stable enough to be discharged, while the remaining one requires further medical attention due to severe injuries, as explained by Mbale Hospital Superintendent Zimbule.
