Top KCPE Prison Candidate Is A KU Graduate And Not A Form Three Drop-Out, Says Relative.
Amelia Jacobeth Liabule, the country’s top prison Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) candidate, may have lied about her educational level.
According to new information, Liabule from Kakamega GK Women’s Main Prison is a graduate of Egerton University who was enrolled for a Master’s Degree when she was arrested and charged with the murder of her mother.
Julius Jwan, Principal Secretary for Early Learning and Basic Education stated that he would need to read the story, comprehend it, and consult with the Ministry’s legal officer before deciding how to handle the inmate.
The Standard went to her rural Shisendu village in Ikolomani sub-county yesterday to gather evidence that she was a university student in 2009.
According to The Standard from the student’s industrial attachment logbook, Liabule majored in Environmental Science at the university.
The attached logbook also reveals that her admission number was N12/50100/09. Photographs of Liabula wearing her school uniform at Eregi Girls High School, where she was a student were evident.
Liabule, who received 402 locations, had previously misled the media at Kakamega Women’s Prison by claiming that she had dropped out of Eregi Girls’ High School in Form Three.

Ms Indoshi revealed that she did not attend the graduation, but most of her family members did, and after finishing her first degree, Ms Liabule enrolled in a second at Kenyatta University.
Kevin Salamba, a university alumnus, says he welcomed her (Liabule) when she first arrived in 2009.

“I remember welcoming her as a fresher when I was in the Third Year, we were in the same primary school and I had to show her the ropes as a village mate lest she got misled,” he says. “She should learn to speak the truth about her education.”
Doreen Anabaka, the in-charge of the Kakamega Women’s Prison, says she was astounded to learn that Liabule was pursuing a Masters degree.
