Top 10 Most Prefered National Schools By 2021 KCPE Candidates.
Education CS George Magoha has revealed a list of schools that were most popular among candidates who took the KCPE in 2021.
Candidates who took their exams a month ago are scheduled to begin Form One in their respective schools on May 3.
Nanyuki High School, Kabianga High School, and Pangani Girls are among the most preferred secondary schools, among others.
He stated that 1,225,502 candidates sat for the exams, the results of which were released a fortnight ago, and that they have all been placed in the country’s 9,200 public schools.
Prof Magoha announced the Form One placement results in Nairobi this morning, saying that ten schools had received applications that were more than ten times their capacity.
“It became clear to us that a big number of candidates did not receive proper guidance and direction when choosing schools. This resulted in some schools attracting far many applicants against their capacities,” the CS said.
For example, Nanyuki High School, the most selected school in this year’s selection, has a capacity of 480 students but received 156,003 applications.
Kabianga High School, one of the top schools in Kericho County, has a capacity of 528 students but received 149, 087 applications.
Pangani Girls High School, on the other hand (one of the top-performing girls’ schools in the capital city), has a capacity of 336 students and 118, 073 2021 KCPE candidates prefer to enroll.
Maseno School received 110,811 applications compared to 576, Nakuru High School received 107,915 applications compared to a capacity of 336, Alliance Girls’ High School received 104,353 applications compared to 384.

Kapsabet Boys received 99,725 applications compared to 384, Butere Girls High School received 98,410 applications compared to 528, Mang’u High School received 93,648 applications compared to 432, and Moi Girls’ High School- Eldoret 92,666 against a capacity of 336 students only.
“This scenario can be avoided if candidates are offered relevant guidance during the selection process by teachers and parents,” the CS added.
Magoha also praised two schools in the Nyanza Region for going above and beyond to increase capacity in support of a 100 percent transition.
