Three Arrested for Swindling Parents Through Fake Form One Sponsorships
In Ndhiwa, Homa Bay County, three individuals have been apprehended by the police for allegedly deceiving parents whose children are about to enter Form One next week.
The suspects, comprising two men and a woman associated with the non-governmental organization called Rising Star Organization, were captured in Kobodo Trading Centre after concerned parents reported the matter to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation Officers.

The individuals, identified as the director, treasurer, and a member of the organization, had convinced financially strapped parents in Ndhiwa that they could provide sponsorship for their children’s secondary education by covering the school fees in various high schools.
As per the parents’ report at Kobodo police station, they were required to make a payment of Ksh.10,000 for a child who had scored 350 marks and above.

Ndhiwa Sub-County Police Commander Paul Rioba revealed that approximately 30 parents fell victim to the scheme, each parting with Ksh.10,000. The trio is currently held at Ndhiwa police station, awaiting formal charges.
Expressing his dismay, Ndhiwa MP Martin Owino condemned the incident and urged parents to exercise caution to prevent falling prey to such scams.

He assured the community that his office is prepared to assist bright and needy students in the constituency through the NG-CDF, encouraging parents to apply for the available bursaries.
