Termination on Temporary or Probationary Terms:
Either the Commission or the teacher may initiate the termination of an appointment for a teacher who is on a temporary or probationary term.
In such cases, either party must provide one month’s notice in writing before terminating the appointment. Alternatively, they can opt to pay one month’s basic salary instead of giving notice.
Additionally, teachers serving on temporary appointments who are contributors to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) will have their benefits administered according to the NSSF Act, Cap. 258.

Termination on Permanent and Pensionable (P&P) Terms:
Teachers serving on P&P terms, a more secure and long-term employment arrangement, have different termination procedures. The termination of such appointments can also be initiated by either the Commission or the teacher.
However, in this case, a more extended notice period is required. Either party must give three months’ notice in writing or pay one month’s basic salary in lieu of notice to terminate the appointment.
