Teacher’s Death Raises Questions; Residents Allege Foul Play

A retired teacher from Nyamira County was discovered deceased; his body was found hanging from a tree on Sunday morning. Although residents dispute it being a suicide, they suspect foul play with the body seemingly placed in the forest.

The family reports that the teacher received a phone call instructing him to collect payment for a debt he owed in Kisii Town. He recently sold a piece of land for Ksh2.5 million and a car for Ksh400,000, anticipating payment from the debtor. His phone went offline after leaving home, and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.

Residents allege that alongside the body were the teacher’s identification documents and an acid bottle, with money discovered nearby. The family is urging law enforcement to investigate, believing foul play is involved. They specifically want to investigate the debtor, whom they believe is a suspect.

The teacher’s body has been transferred to the mortuary for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Furthermore, the family is requesting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the teacher’s vehicle.
