Suspected Killers of JKUAT student arrested.Detectives have arrested two suspects in the gruesome murder of Joel Juma, a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). The deceased was killed two days ago.The two were apprehended on Wednesday following a manhunt initiated following the death of the fourth-year Industrial Chemistry student.Joseph Muchiri, alias Agent, 22, and Paul Mbatha, 20, were apprehended by the undercover operatives.Their arrest came after a rigorous forensic study of the scene by Crime Scene specialists stationed at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory, which led police to the suspects’ identities.The first suspect was apprehended in Kiandutu, Thika town, while the second was caught in Gachororo, Juja district, as he attempted to flee.Joel Juma, a fourth-year industrial chemistry student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, was stabbed twice in the back.“The seasoned crime busters are closing in on the third suspect and efforts to find him dead or alive are at advanced stages,” DCI said.On Tuesday, special teams of investigators from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) were despatched to assist Juja-based police in their search for the alleged merciless killers.Muchiri, alias ‘Agent,’ and Mbatha have subsequently confessed to their roles in the murder and are being processed for arraignment on Thursday, in accordance with the law.What TranspiredOn Tuesday morning, Juma was approached as he walked from his hostel to his friends’ residence.His fiancée, a law student at Mt Kenya University, told police she was escorting him to acquire revision materials from his friends a few streets away when they were approached by the gang.The girlfriend had gone to see her sweetheart and discovered him preparing for his exams. She cooked a dinner for them to enjoy before they went to bed.Juma later awoke to study, but around 2 a.m., he requested her to accompany him to obtain some reference material.The group ambushed them at the hotel Lilies when they were on their way, demanding money and cell phones.
