It is unusual for the same students to come out on top in both national exams. Naeem Samnakay achieved what was once thought to be an impossible feat when he topped the 1985 KCPE and 1989 KCSE exams.
The Alliance High School alumnus accomplished the seemingly impossible feat. Gibert Nyasoko Tengetta, not to be outdone, was the top student in the 1988 KCPE exams, scoring 556 out of 700.
Four years later, he was named the top student in the 1992 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.
Daphne Otieno, a female student, took first place in the 2013 KCPE exams with 444 points. At the time, she was tied for first place in Kenya with Brian Kimutai.
In the 2017 KCSE exams, she received an A with a score of 84.56 points (number 57 countrywide). Kimutai, her counterpart, was not among the top 100 students.
Peter Kamenju received 438 points in the 2009 Primary Certificate exams, making him the best candidate in a ranking that saw average marks ranging from 420 to 438 make it to the top ten list. In the 2013 secondary exams, he was ranked 54th in the country with an A average of 86 points.
Tonny Bumula’s achievement was recognized in 2019 when Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha announced that he was the best student in the country.

KCPE and KCSE Exams Centers To Be Merged.

With 87.159 points, the Kapsabet Boys student received an A. Initially, he received 433 points in the 2015 KCPE exams and was ranked among the top students in the country.
Other students have emerged as the cream of the crop, ranking among the top 100 in both national exams. Morara Mogina, a Pangani School alumnus who finished seventh in the country in the 2017 KCSE exams, received 423 points in the primary certificate exams.
Onyango Stanley Omondi, on the other hand, enrolled at Maranda High School after receiving 418 points. He finished in the top ten with 85.853 points.

Silas Njirimani Kombo from the Western region scored 407 points in the 2016 KCPE. He later transferred to Kakamega School, where he received an A-plus grade of 83 points in the 2020 KCSE exams.
During the same year, Joseph Joachim Gicheru was ranked among the top scorers in the 2016 KCPE exam, with 430 points. He was admitted to The Alliance High School and later graduated with an A and 83 points.
